Goodbye to CDs and DVDs

We threw out a lot of our old stuff the other day, and this time our old CDs, DVDs and their cases weren't safe from the purge. I went and archived everything important I could find on them and this ended up being such a wild nostalgia trip for me. Ancient year-end school ceremony recordings, long-forgotten family photos, pictures from all the way back in 2006 from what I suspect was the first ever digital camera the family had owned... a lens into the past unlike anything I've experienced before. Technology is forever changing and it's easy to point to changes that took place in my lifetime and that I've personally felt, but the transition from optical discs to flash media for file storage and the rise of online streaming are perhaps the most obvious to me for some reason.
